I've Been Exploring the story of the Chinese Lion Dance

in partnership with The Center for Contemporary Art & Culture at Pacific Northwest College of Art

This work references the Chinese lion head and lion dance tradition to explore protection and ritual.

Historically used to ward off evil and dispel negative energy, the lion becomes a guardian figure rooted in strength and cultural memory.

Suspended overhead, the lion becomes both guardian and guide. Beneath it, an intricate floor mandala—rooted in Chinese and Tantric geometric traditions—acts as a symbolic portal for meditation, empowerment, and awakening.
